Saturday and Sunday — renactment of Viking raids on Polesworth; Guided Tours of the Abbey; and (NEW) Abbey in a Box.... 11.30 am - 4.00 pm
Vikings of Middle England return to Polesworth Abbey to reenact our ninth-century heritage and provide the context for sharing with adults and children new interpretation of the Abbey, the result of three-years of Community Archeology. Viking Raid at 12 noon; Big Battle for Polesworth at 2.30 pm; exhibition of Saxon Life with coinmaking, archery, and armory. Viking food available from 12.30 to 2.00 pm — Sithrick sausages and Boodaxed Burgers! Adults and children will be welcomed and introduced to: our new exhibition; and touch screen interpretation. Children invited to dress up as Monks and Nuns, work in the Scriptorium and make Abbey Stained glass. 'The Big Challenge' is for adults to recreate the medieval development of the Abbey using 26 cardboard boxes. (drawings and video supplied!). Abbey open with guides and AV Tours. Our day opens at 11.30 on Saturday 14th and on Sunday 15th. All Vikings to be dealt with by 4.00 pm.
